Deaf Socials

Fostering Connection and Belonging Through Inclusive Deaf Community Socials

Deaf socials are community events offered at no cost to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafPlus, and Hard-of-Hearing individuals, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for social interaction and connection. These events aim to reduce the loneliness, isolation, and communication barriers that many individuals face in their daily lives. The need for such gatherings is even greater for those who are DeafBlind, DeafPlus—meaning they have an additional physical, mental, or cognitive disability alongside being Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing—or belong to the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community, as they often encounter compounded challenges. To ensure accessibility and encourage participation, MDMC provides food and free transportation for all attendees, making these events as inclusive and accommodating as possible.
