
Jessalyn Akerman
Jessalyn Akerman-Frank, M.Ed., D-CHW, is dedicated to serving the Minnesota Deaf Muslim Community, both as a volunteer and more recently as a consultant for the CLAS project. Her deep connection to the community stems from a profound love for its people, a strong belief in the mission, and a commitment to the vital need for such services. Jessalyn is passionate about helping to cement the Minnesota Deaf Muslim Community (MDMC) as a cornerstone of support within both the Deaf and broader community.
In her role as Community and Civic Engagement Director with the Commission, and through her involvement with the Deaf Equity and Minnesota Deaf Queers boards, she advocates for the empowerment and upliftment of marginalized communities, particularly those who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. Jessalyn is driven by a deep belief in the importance of investing in organizations that support the growth and well-being of these communities and society as a whole.
